Branch Rickey
On three occasions Chuck has brought Branch Rickey to the Basball Hall of Fame in Copperstown, NY. The first was in the summer of 2000, and returned the following summer to perform during the Hall of Fame induction weekend. Most recently, he performed at the Hall in the summer of 2004. Chuck is returning there the summer of 2007.
He performed as Rickey at the New York Chautauqua, when his book was featured as a weekly discussion topic.
In addition to many college appearances, he has performed for the staff of The Sporting News in St. Louis. Managing editor Bob Hille called it "a first rate performance that would be a joy for any baseball fan to witness."

H.L. Mencken
Most recently, Chuck performed as H.L. Mencken for the MD Humanities Council and MD Public Radio at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He was part of a panel with Zelda Fitzgerald, Edgar Allan Poe, and Thurgood Marshall.
In the summer of 2005, Chuck performed as Mencken for The Great Basin Chautauqua in Reno, NV. There he played opposite William Jennings Bryan.
He has also brought Mencken to summer chautauquas in both Missouri and Illinois.
He has written an essay on Mencken and evangelist Amiee Semple McPherson by way of looking at the cultural wars of the 1920's. This unpublished essay runs approximately 80 pages and is available for $10 upon request.

George Orwell
Chuck originally did an Orwell character for the MN Humanities Commission in conjunction with book discussions on Orwell's major work 1984. He revived Orwell for the Maryland Humanities Councils in the 2005 summer chautauqua, whose theme was "War and Democracy."
More recently he has performed Orwell for Loyola College of Baltimore and Hidelberg College in Tiffin, OH.
This show is set in the summer of 1945. It concentrates on his experiences during the Spanish Civil War and WWII, as well as his earlier writings and overall philosophy. Both Animal Farm and 1984 are yet to be published, but audience members will get more than a glimpse into the thinking of the two books that made Orwell famous.

G.K. Chesterton
The other Englishman in Chuck's repertoire is G.K. Chesterton. He has been performing as Chesterton for 10 years, both all across the United States, as well as in Canada and Hungary.
Among the American colleges at which Chesterton has appeared are Notre Dame, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Gonzaga, Hillsdale and UT-Chattanooga, among many others.
Brian Clayton of the Gonzaga University philosophy department has commented that Chalberg's performance has encouraged people to read or re-read Chesterton because his "characterization makes so clear how relevant and timlely Chesterton's thought is."
Father Robert Sirico of the Acton Institute noted that Chesterton's appearance there was "a tour de force," which brought to life the "indomitable spirit of G.K."
Upon seeing Chesterton, Dr. Michael Jordan, an English professor at Hillsdale College, claimed that "Chalberg's speech, his gestures, his dress, and his comments [are] true to form. My response to the presentation was the same as the rest of the audience: we gave him a standing ovation."

Bobby Jones
His most recent creation is golfing great Bobby Jones. Along with sons Michael and Stephen, Chalberg has performed at such venerable golfing locations as Interlachen Country Club, the site of Jones' 1930 U.S. Open victory in his quest for the Grand Slam, and the host of the 2008 Women's U.S. Open. He and his sons have also been guests at Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburg, PA, where Jones won the 1925 U.S. Amateur and the site of the most recent U.S. Open.
Keep an eye out for their appearance in Ashland, OH during the last week of June, 2007. Detail can be found in the Appearance Calendar.

Theodore Roosevelt
His oldest creation is former President Theodore Roosevelt. Set in 1918 or just before Roosevelt's death, the show ranges over the whole of his fascinating life. Chalberg has performed for chautauquas in Nevada and New Hampshire.
In addition, he has brought Roosevelt to the premier chautauqua, the New York Chautauqua, where he appeared with Franklin Roosevelt in 1999. This was the 125th anniversary of the NY Chautauqua (remember, his performance of Rickey can be heard at the New York Chautauqua's website), where both men appeared during their presidencies.
